Quantum Technologies and Advanced Materials (QTAM)

Through the QTAM programme, SIT straddles two critical impact themes for future technologies, Quantum Technologies and Advanced Materials. Ranging from hardware components and demonstrator systems, the QTAM programme captures the emerging research drive in addressing the computing, communications and sensing challenges for the future.

Equipped with a state-of-the-art research and development infrastructure and supported by a curiosity-driven intellectual community with eyes on grand challenges, SIT QTAM will be a key player in delivering new science to new technologies.

Meet your speakers

Mete Atature
Prof. of Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge

Mete Atature is a Professor of Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. His research activities are driven by the development of quantum technologies based on quantum optics and novel light-matter interfaces. He received his BSci in Physics from Bilkent University in 1996 and his PhD from the Quantum Imaging Laboratory of Boston University in 2002.

Christine Silberhorn
Prof. Integrated Quantum Optics at Paderborn University

Christine Silberhorn is a German physicist specialising in quantum photonics, she is currently Chair for Integrated Quantum Optics at Paderborn University. Silberhorn is best known for her role in leading research projects which develop tailored quantum devices and systems for use in quantum computing and quantum communication. In 2017, her team was awarded the largest European Research Council grant for her research.
